Paneer Butter Masala

 

Paneer Butter Masala recipe is a rich and creamy dish of paneer made with paneer, spices ,onions  ,tomatoes, cashews and butter. It is one of the most popular vegetarian dish in India.


                                                     


                                             


                                         





INGREDIENTS

  • 200-250gms paneer
  • 4tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 6 cashews
  • 2 onions
  • 3 -4tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 3 cloves
  • 2 pods cardamom
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 inch cinnamon
  • 11/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp kasuri methi
  • 1/2tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2tbsp fresh cream
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1tsp salt



How to make Paneer Butter Masala


1.Pour 1 tbsp oil to a hot pan. Add 2 chopped onions,2 garlic cloves and 1 inch ginger.

















2.Add 1 tbsp butter and saute them on a medium flame till they turn light pink in colour.
















3.Add 3-4 chopped tomatoes,6 cashews(soaked in water)and salt, saute for 2 to 3 minutes then cover the pan and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
















4.When the tomatoes and onions are completely soft cooked, turn off the heat and grind once the mixture cools down.
















5.Blend this mixture to a fine paste. Now the base of our paneer butter masala is ready. Heat a pan on a low flame, melt 3 tbsp of butter.
















6.When the butter melts add 2 green cardamoms,1 bay leaf,1/2inch  cinnamon and 3 cloves. Pour onion tomato puree to this.
















7.Add 1 1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder,1/2 tsp chilli powder,1/2 tsp garam masala powder and 1/2 tsp sugar to balance the sourness of the tomatoes and finally add required salt, mix well .














8.Add 200-250 gms paneer and mix well.


















9.Pour 1/2 cup water and mix well to bring it to a gravy.

















10.Take 1tsp kasuri methi in your palm and crush it in between both your palms, then added it to butter masala. Cover and cook on a medium flame until the gravy turns thick.















11.Finally add 1 tbsp fresh cream ,stir and turn off the heat.
















Transfer paneer butter masala to a serving bowl. Garnish with 1 tbsp cream and 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.


                                 Serve Paneer Butter Masala with Chapati, Roti or Fried Rice.
